Construction of a Tapered Amplifier for Use in Ultracold Atom Experiments
This summer I worked on constructing a Tapered Amplifier for use in Ultracold atom experiments in the Weld Lab at UCSB. Lasers are an important part of the process in performing these experiments, as they are the primary way in which we cool the atoms. Although the machine is functional, we can benefit from increased power in the cooling lasers. This will allow the cooling process to be completed faster, which in turn will allow us to take more data in a given amount of time. This will save time and provide more robust conclusions.
